We welcome you to Christ Church Anglican South Bend, a traditional Anglican parish devoted to prayer, biblical teaching, and worship in word and sacrament using the Book of Common Prayer. Our rector is the Rev. Steven McCarthy, and our congregation is part of the Diocese of the Living Word, in the Anglican Church of North America.
At Christ Church Anglican you will find a warm and vibrant congregation that is committed to hearing and obeying God’s Word and participating in the rich sacramental life of the Anglican tradition. We worship in the historic church building of St. Paul’s Memorial UMC (1001 W Colfax Ave, South Bend, IN 46616). On Wednesdays at 8:15 am, a said service of Morning Prayer is offered in the side chapel. For our Sunday service, we meet at 5:30 pm in the main sanctuary.
The various offices of the Book of Common Prayer give us different, valuable, and complementary ways of expressing a single vision of our dwelling in Christ and him in us. We ordinarily alternate between Evening Prayer on the first and third Sundays, and the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion on the second, fourth, and also fifth Sundays. Our services are marked by hearing, receiving, and singing—hearing the Word of God read and faithfully preached, receiving the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion in which Jesus Christ offers himself to his Church, and singing praise to God in the beauty of the Anglican musical tradition. Our doctrinal standards are the historic creeds of the church and the Anglican formularies. At all Sunday services childcare is provided for ages six months to three years. All are invited to join us as we love and serve God together.
